On November 21th, the paper Is the reusable tableware the best option? Analysis of the aviation catering sector with a life cycle approach was published in the Science of the Total Environment.
The person responsible for the study has been Gonzalo Blanca, researcher at ESCI – UPF, relying on the support of the different partners involved in the project.
This is the third publication to be released thanks to the LIFE Zero Cabin Waste Project. The study assesses the environmental impact of the various components that can be found in a tourist menu throughout its life cycle. In addition, the possible effect on greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation sector is studied, following the prohibition of single-use plastics by the European Commission, and highlighting the use of the ACV methodology when making decisions and/or developing environmental legislation.
