In January 25th, within the International Tourism Fair, FITUR, which took place in Madrid from January 23rd to 27th, the event “Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, pautas para la acción” – Sustainable Development Goals, guidelines for action- was held by the Spanish global Compact Network and in which Iberia had the opportunity to present the LIFE Zero Cabin Waste project.
The event was a great opportunity to share challenges and good practices for sustainable tourism with other companies in the tourism sector, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals approved by the United Nations.
In this event, Marina García Aedo of Iberia presented the LIFE Zero Cabin Waste project and how it is aligned with the objective 12 of the Sustainable Development Goals.
In 2015, during the Sustainable Development Summit, the UN approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that contains 17 Sustainability Development Goals (SDG) of universal application and that seek to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
In particular, SDG12 “Responsible Consumption and Production” consists of ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, fostering the efficient use of resources. The objectives of the Zero Cabin Waste project are mainly aligned with target 5 of SDG 12, which consists of “by 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse”
