On October 31 we had the opportunity to explain the Zero Cabin Waste Project to Ana Fernández Martin and Antonio Gonzalo Sáenz Feijoo, technicians of the General Subdirectorate of Animal Health and Hygiene and Traceability, belonging to the General Directorate of Health of Agricultural Production , within the MAPAMA (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment).

The main objective of the meeting was to present the possible management alternatives that are intended to pose for Category 1 waste and receive advice on the steps to be followed in order to validate this new management path at national and European Union level. .

Current legislation includes catering waste from means of transport operating internationally within Category 1 material, this limits the management of this waste to incineration or landfill disposal (according to Regulation EC 1069/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council). One of the objectives of Zero Cabin Waste is to demonstrate the safety of this waste so that it can be separated and treated, avoiding disposal in landfills.
